After a two-year effort, MADA was successful in passing legislation to strengthen Minnesota's Motor Vehicle Franchise Protection Law. The new law, effective August 1, 2018, will give dealers more leverage in their relationship with factories by:
increasing reimbursement rates on warranty parts and labor;
authorizing compensation for used vehicles in a dealer's inventory subject to a stop-sale;
defining objective criteria for when a manufacturer may reject a successor;
requiring transparency in performance standards;
barring arbitrary changes to a dealer's primary market area; and
prohibiting factory-mandated facility improvements and significant imaging modifications more frequently than every 10 years.
Join us to learn about the ins-and-outs of the new law and discover the benefits. Other hot topics, including the status of funding and programming for MNLARS, will also be covered.
